My New Addiction!

I decided to try my hand at dying the wool I bought a few weeks ago.  I’ve only dyed a couple of skeins before in variegated shades but decided to try multiple colours.  Oh my goodness.  I think I’m in love!

First off I soaked the wool in a delicate wool washing liquid as it still had that sheep smell. Then I mixed up some teal, scarlet and yellow dyes.  I used the microwave method of dying, so some cling film and a few minutes in the microwave, a rinse under the tap and et voila!

??????????I’ve also been commissioned to make a freeform blanket loosely based on the blanket in the movie “Seeking a Friend until the End of the Earth”.   It’s just gorgeous.

Seeking a Friend until the end of the earth blanketSo I’ve been surrounded by yarny yumminess this weekend; trialling how the blanket might look to make sure it’s what my customer wants and then checking out some yarn and colours.

I have a few months before this is needed so will keep looking at yarn and may even decide to dye some more of my own to make it even more unique.
