Whitianga Break

As it was Father’s Day and Joe’s birthday last weekend, we decided to take a couple of days off work and get out of town for a few days.  We headed over to Whitianga in the Coromandel where we booked a bach.  We stayed at the Troll House on Buffalo Beach Road.

We didn’t do quite as much as we normally would when away, due to me having a virus but we did manage to visit one of our favourite spots, Driving Creek Railway in Coromandel Town.  It’s New Zealand’s only narrow-gauge mountain railway along with a working pottery and wild life sanctuary.  As usual it didn’t disappoint.  The views are amazing.

We finally made it down to Cathedral Cove, a 45 minute walk each way down to a beautiful sandy beach that is separated by an arch.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at the Bay Brewery & Bistro a lovely little bar and restaurant that came highly recommended and which didn’t disappoint.

It was back home on Monday to an evening at the Lido Cinema to see Red 2 followed by a bite to eat at Iguana bar.
