When Life Gives you Lemons…

…what do you make? We have a lemon tree in the garden that is bursting with lemons.  We get so many of them every year that I usually run out of ideas on what to do with them.

This year I decided to do some research and here is my Top 10!

  1. Make lemonade.
  2. Lemon drizzle cake. Actually this is a family favourite. I use the recipe in Sam Stern’s “Cooking Up a Storm : The Teen Survival Cookbook”.  It’s very moist and doesn’t last very long in our house.
  3. Lemon cookies
  4. Add a slice to your favourite tipple (gin and tonic or vodka and lime) or even just pop a slice in some hot water for a refreshing energising drink.
  5. Lemon Meringue Pie
  6. Lemon chicken.
  7. Lemon rice.
  8. Limoncello
  9. Put half a lemon in a cup of water and put in the microwave on the full setting for a minute to get rid of any nasty odours. It leaves it smelling lovely and fresh.
  10. Lemon Curd

  1. I so wish I was as lucky as you to have that lemon tree in my backyard! I totally love lemon anything, and was just thinking that I should make a Lemon Meringue pie the other day!
